This seminar discussed Art.6 of the Habitats Directive defines how EU Member States must protect and manage their Natura 2000 sites. In implementing the provisions of Art.6(1), Member States are required to set Site Specific Conservation Objectives (SSCOs) for the purpose of ensuring that a Natura 2000 site is managed effectively to achieve the overall objective of the Directive – the favourable conservation status for the species and habitats.

This PELGA event provided practitioners with a practical understanding of SSCOs (how they are identified, implemented, quantified and measured) and Natura 2000 Management Plans, as well as offer an overview of recent case law on the topic.

At the end of the presentation, participants developed a more comprehensive understanding of SSCOs and Natura 2000 Management Plans.
